Beautiful Magaluf and Palma Nova in Palma Bay Majorca
The holiday destination of Magaluf and the twin resort of Palma Nova are located on the western coast of Palma Bay on the island of Majorca. The twin resorts are very close being just a 5 minute taxi trip or a 30 minute walk if you enjoy fresh air. Several of the resorts in Majorca are focused on either British or German holidaymakers. Both Magaluf and Palma Nova themselves are rock solid British dominated resorts.
That said, Palma Nova and Magaluf do not attract the more sophisticated British visitors. A lot of people find Palma Nova and Magaluf in Majorca a bit tacky. Probably not exactly a sunny version of Scarborough or Blackpool, but you may notice a few similarities. Usually folks either adore these resorts or dislike them with a vengance. Both Palma Nova and Magaluf offer numerous British owned and operated bars, sports bars and restaurants catering for the tastes of the biggest visitors in these resorts, the British visitors. These numerous places selling a Full English Breakfast at very low prices and no one will struggle to find somewhere to watch either english Premier League football or Test cricket, together with a pint of your favorite tipple or a properly made cup of tea. Britons feeling unwell will discover a British doctor or a British dental practice which can be found on the main road in Palma Nova. In truth, a home from home for British people in almost all things apart from the weather which is safely forecast to be gloriously hot in Summer.
Magaluf itself is world famous as a party destination. There are numerous clubs and bars where you can dance the night away until the small hours. Palma Nova is still quite a lively destination, but it is certainly a little calmer than Magaluf and probably more suited to families who don’t want to be on holiday right in the centre of a party zone. Magaluf has also become a major resort for Hen and Stag weekends. The behaviour in Magaluf does get a little rowdy to say the least in the main holiday season. Remember Palma Nova is only a brief bus ride, taxi ride or half hour walk away from Magaluf, so holidaymakers based in Palma Nova will will find that the nightlife of Magaluf is within easy reach. Both resorts offer top class beaches of beautiful fine sand. There is some natural shade from the tall pine trees at one end of the beach in Palma Nova. There are plenty of sun beds and parasols available to hire on the beaches, though a little expensive in peak season. The tariff was 10.50 Euro for just a couple of sunbeds and a sunshade in Palma Nova this summer.
Coach transfers from Palma de Mallorca airport typically takes approximately 40 minutes to either Magaluf or Palma Nova. Usually car rental from Magaluf or at Palma Airport is cost effective by comparison against many other locations however rental rates in summer 2009 went to astronomical levels because there was a shortage of rental vehicles which caused a supply mismatch. If you intend to rent a car from Palma think about getting a decent map or guide to Majorca before leaving.
