Do People Really Care About the Size of a Laptop?
The question in computer portability has become, “Does physical size really matter or is it more important to have a powerful workhorse computer that allows you to fit all your productivity software and save as many movies as possible on your productivity machine?” Another matter may be whether the smaller sizes are more useful or if the light-weight portability is the focal issue. I think the availability of different types of portable computers in today’s day and age lets us really personalize our business machines into something that works for everyone and doesn’t always have to be run of the mill for the world.
The release of the new macbookair by Apple has really given us options with the size and weight and what kind of mobile computer we take around with us to school. At less than 3 pounds and wafer thin, we don’t have to strain our muscles every time we walk to school. It has a 13 inch LCD screen and a full-size keyboard. Why wouldn’t I be interested? This is the very aspect I have been looking for.
When I first previewed the youtube video for the MacBook Air with a slim, easy to transport computer coming out of that little envelope, small envelope, I was simply stunned. Now, that’s what I’ve been searching for. Now it doesn’t have to be a major undertaking to take my portable computer with me anymore! No extra bag that can weigh nearly as much as the portable computer, no more heavy lifting, no longer taking up so much extra room! What a miracle!
The age old question of whether size is important is here now and my answer, when it comes to a compact portable notebook computer is a resounding, “yes, Yes, YES!” Size does matter and so does weight. For me and my mobile computer smaller is certainly better.
