It's a decent hotel/resort. The beach in front of the Hilton is lovely but not really swimmable. You'd have to go north (Kealia, Kalihiwai, Anini, etc.) or south (Lydgate, Nawiliwili, Poipu, etc.) for a swimmable beach. The pool area is nice and the lobby is quite pretty. I haven't been in the rooms, but I've seen pictures and talked to people who have stayed there and they liked the rooms. It's fairly popular so not very private. It's also right near Lihue which is the county seat and where the airport is located. If you want something more private, I'd choose Princeville depending on the time of year (winter is VERY rainy there) or Poipu. Poipu beach is one of the best beaches in the U.S. so the beach can get crowded, but the area itself is very quiet and tropical. Please let me know if you have any specific questions and I will try to answer them. I'm not a travel agent and I don't make any money from answering your questions...I'm just a Hawaii resident who is proud of my island and wants others to have a good time here.

Aloha :)
