About $20 bucks a person for lunch and maybe $25 a person for dinner.

We just got back form Kauai and we went the cheap route…..
Mcd’s for .99 cent biscuits for breakfast and lunch was either Burger king or Taco Bell for .99 menu…

And dinner we splurdged…

but we went to Wal-mart and bought snacks and water for us to drink and eat through out the day while sightseeing!!

Things can get pricey. ….but….Try the “plate lunch.” Hawaii’s version of fast food, the plate lunch is inexpensive (usually less than $7), made to travel (to the beach, at least) and meant to satisfy even the healthiest of hungers.

These build-your-own masterpieces begin with a solid foundation of starch, inevitably including rice (white or brown) and a choice of macaroni or potato salad. From there, the options are nearly boundless, but usually include a choice of several types of barbecued pork and beef (mild Chinese char siu pork and tangy Korean kalbi ribs among them); chicken done adobo (braised), katsu (breaded and fried) or teriyaki style; lomilomi salmon (served salted and chilled, Mexican ceviche style) and more.

Every kama’aina (local) on every island has his or her favorite plate lunch shop, but a good placeto start is Lihu’e's Fish Express (try the ‘ahi katsu) and Kaunakakai’s Big Daddy’s Store & Restaurant (try everything!).

its pretty expensive i would reccomend Waikiki, Hawaii on Oahu. It is so beautiful especially when the sun is setting. id say go to honoluluadvertiser.com

I used to live in Hawaii,(Maui and Hawaii)
After we moved away we went back just to visit and stayed in a hotel. it has been quit awhile since we’ve been there but I can tell you that it was expensive to eat in the hotels. The nice thing about Hawaii is there are many little local places to eat.
You have to get away from the major hotels, go to shopping centers or places where the locals go.
Drinks in the hotel or bars can be a small fortune so you can always bring drinks up to your room from the grocery store.
better to spend your money on fun stuff not just eating out.
We stayed at the Hilton in Honolulu about 25 years agoand dinner was at least $60. for two back then.
