Planning a trip to Kauai. Need some help with some dates. When would be a slow time to go?

Robin G asked:

With Easter on Mar 23. How far before or after should I wait? I want to travel on a Tues or Wed. To avoid the crowds and the high prices.

You’ll still find “high season” hotel rates through March, so my advice would be to aim for April or May where you’ll find the better rates, better weather, and least crowds.

Whether you visit Kauai or any other other Hawaiian island, you definitely want to stay away from the entire Easter week 3/17 – 3/23, which is really when most Hawaii hotels and resorts have a 100% occupancy and beaches and restaurants are crowded.

Booking before the Easter week, does not make sense either, as hotels, car rentals and air fares are still offered at high season rates.

So my recommendation for your trip to Kauai, start your Hawaii travel plans with April (May – middle of June would be fine too). For some odd reason (sometimes I think, one is that it’s tax month), April is not a big travel month to the islands.

You will get great deals on air fares, car rentals, hotels or private vacation rentals. And the weather is the same nice as other months – actually nicer than hot summer months.

Jump on it. Have a great time on Kauai. Aloha, Pua

After march…..April or May would be best!
